Ahhh velvet paintings. I laughed at them as a child, and now I’m now the proud owner of a velvet lion, regally looking over my living room, reminding me daily to be awesome.
I found mine in my favorite thrift store for $5, one of the pricier items in their wall hanging section. Two things I wonder whenever I see a fabulous velvet painting: 1. Where can I find an artist to do one of me? and 2. Why are the frames always slashed like that? I thought the claw-like gashes in the frame were some artistic inspiration from lion claws, but then I began to see them everywhere, on all velvet paintings.
So my question remains: Where can I find an artist that will do a velvet portrait of me??
