Atlanta’s Trash to Treasure

December 1, 2011 in Inspiration by

Are you constantly seeking trash to transform into DIY treasures? Or do you have more items to upcycle than you have hours in the day (or square feet in your closet/garage/storage container)? If so, then you need to check out Atlanta Craphounds and Wonderroot Creative Reuse Group, two local resources for obtaining and re-recycling those fantastic finds.

The Craphounds exist as a Facebook group. The setup is simple enough: people post what they have or are looking for to the group page wall, and other members respond. Becoming a member is easy (just email the group admin), and once you’re in, you can add all of your DIY friends. The more the merrier!

While you’re supply searching on the interwebs, check out the Wonderroot Creative Reuse Group!  The fine folks running this project live to connect crafters with materials that may otherwise end up in the trash. Send them an email from their website to find out what’s in stock…or to request a pickup of items you’d like to see creatively reused.  Because seriously, the bulk yarn collection collecting dust in your closet wants to be a series of really cute scarves, and there is a knitter out there who would love to make that happen.
